Richard has been behind the chair for over 45 years and has spent 25 of them training salon professionals in the resin bond method he invented. His approach to hair extensions — selecting European hair strand by strand, bonding it with a natural resin that moves like real hair, blending color at every level — is the standard that other methods are measured against.

Can I really learn extensions from a video course?
Yes — but you're not just watching videos. Every module includes practice time on your mannequin with the real materials, and you certify through a live Zoom demo with Richard watching your technique in real time. It's guided, hands-on training that happens to be remote.
Do I need prior extension experience?
No. The course is designed for licensed stylists at any experience level — from zero extension background to years of K-tip or tape-in work. If you're switching methods, Module 1 explains exactly why this approach produces different results.
How do the Zoom check-ins work exactly?
After each module, you schedule a private one-on-one Zoom session with Richard at a time that works for you. You show him your work on the mannequin — placement, bonding, blending — and he gives direct feedback and answers questions. These are private sessions, not group calls, and not pre-recorded.
What happens during the certification demo?
You perform a one-row placement live on Zoom while Richard observes. He evaluates your sectioning, bond placement, and blending technique in real time — giving feedback throughout. You pass when your work meets the undetectable standard. If you need an additional session, that's scheduled without penalty.
Do I need to buy any additional equipment?
No. Everything arrives in your kit: the pre-loaded tablet, mannequin head and stand, swing arm, 8 bundles of European hair, practice hair, color ring, clips, combs, brush, and all forms and consultation tools. The only thing not included is scissors, which you already have.
Can this method be used with color services and perms?
Yes. The natural resin bond is compatible with perms, color, and most chemical services. Module 2 covers the color blending system in depth, and Module 4 addresses how to integrate extension appointments alongside existing color clients.
Is this course accredited?
Yes. The Extend USA certification is an accredited credential developed from the same methodology used in Aveda, Paul Mitchell, and Joico educator programs — curriculum developed and taught by Richard directly.
